Steamer Panaman at a Los Angleles pier. "LONE SAILOR MAKES PORT"
"Four years ago Harry Pidgeon sailed from Los Angeles Harbor in a homemade thirty-four-foot yawl, totally ignorant of the sea, but confident that his tiny Islander, a book on navigation and a worn out sextant would carry him safely around the world - alone. He is home now, tanned and healthy, with 35,000 miles of sea behind him and the little yawl under the same suit of sails with which she dropped this port astern on November 18 1921. This picture shows Harry Pidgeon."
"B WFM 11/2/25"
A rowing race between the boats of at least five battleships near Seattle, probably in the '30s. The vessel in the foreground is likely Patrol No. 2 (205422), built as the Telegram at Tacoma in 1908, which served the Seattle Harbor Dept. in the 1930s. Banners for, or boats from, the battleships Nevada, New Mexico, Maryland, Tennessee and Texas are visible.
